Reporting back on my new find, The Ballbuster (2005), from Tait wines (shiraz 78%; cabernet sauvignon 12%; merlot 10%). It’s pretty friggin’ good, my peeps. Great taste bang of blackberry and cinnamon/pepper spice, enhanced by high alcohol content. Not for the delicate palate, but a taste adventure for a decent price. I paid $17.99 per bottle at two shops here in Lawrence, but it’s only stocked sporadically. It’s not easy to find online, either, outside of the Tait Wines website, where it’s listed at $22.50.

Bonus: the screw-cap. This wine, and a whole lot of other quality Australian wines I’ve discovered, can be enjoyed without the extra effort of dealing with the traditional, and, really!, unnecessary cork. Thanks to the Aussies for dispensing with tradition and wine snobbery.
